The applicability of these height-weight charts is more in adults as these measurements are standardized for fully grown men and women of different heights. So, in adults, these standards are less prone to variation.
These data sets are known as percentiles and the 50th percentile on every chart shows the average value for any group that you’re trying to get a value for. Any value above 50 is higher than the average, and a lesser value is lower than the average.
